Summary: This is the integrating course of the leadership program. It is the culmination of all of our classes, discussions, presentations, research, and writing; this is where we focused on utilizing our leadership learning and our creative potential to implement positive change. Reviewing all our coursework helped me to coalesce our many leadership styles, recognize growth, encourage a renewed sense of self, and reestablish the mission, vision and goals needed to be a successful leader.
As part of the capstone course we studied the Adaptive Model of leadership and addressed an adaptive challenge. My adaptive challenge is “In what way might I . . . find or recognize a challenge that is rewarding and in line with my leadership experience?” In doing this assignment I realized that my passion and energy may not be fully utilized or understood here at Daemen. This has provided me an opportunity to grow and look inward at what I want to accomplish with my leadership. I hope to find a rewarding and challenging position that will utilize my experience, as well as my social and emotional intelligence to develop staff, inspire organizations, and create engaging opportunities. This adaptive challenge has helped me to set a rewarding new path in my work here on campus and to be open to the possibility of deeper change.
So what, Now what: The capstone course not only allowed me to reflect on my ELC learning, it has prepared me to apply my leadership skills confidently, recognize opportunity and to celebrate the personal accomplishments I have made as a student of Executive Leadership and Change.
